ISLANDS IN SPAIN

Spanish islandsThe Balearic Islands are located in the western Mediterranean. The islands are divided into two main groups; Gimnesias (Gymnesian Islands) and Pitiusas (Pine Islands). The first one comprises the islands of Mallorca, Menorca and Cabrera, and the latter one the islands of Ibiza and Formentera. The islands are among the most popular tourist destinations of the world due to excellent weather conditions, rich cultural heritage, great hospitality, wonderful beaches and sailing areas, interesting entertainment spots, etc. In spite of their proximity, the islands are completely different, each interesting in its own way.

Mallorca is the largest of the islands. With its rocky coastline and beaches of fine sand, it is the best destination for party people, as well as for families, individuals, etc. You can explore the north and east coast of the island and its splendid beaches or head towards the main centre, Palma de Mallorca, take a tour of the island and visit some interesting historical sites.

The bright island of Menorca is famous for its green countryside, the blue crystal sea and the whitewashed houses. The island offers a good shelter of modern, developed beaches as well as of those secluded, unspoiled bays. It is the peaceful tourist resort for relaxed holidays.

Cabrera was proclaimed nature preserve and the access to this beautiful island requires a special permission. The anchorage is permitted only in the port of Cabrera, while some areas are completely restricted.

Ibiza is the third largest of the Balearic Islands. It is worldwide known for its nightlife, top clubs, wonderful beaches and beautiful countryside. The island is ideal for all kinds of water sport activities and sailing vacation, due to favorable weather and sea conditions. There are over 60 beaches along the coast of the island; from sandy beaches with various leisure facilities to hidden coves accessible only by a boat.

Formentera is located 11 miles from the southeast coast of Ibiza. It can be reached by ferry from Ibiza. The island abounds in beaches and bays. The sea is visible from every point of the island.
The Balearic Islands enjoy mild weather of typical Mediterranean climate with an average annual temperature of approximately 17 degrees.

The Canary Islands consist of seven larger islands of volcanic origin and several smaller ones. The islands are located off the northwestern coast of Africa and feature the most peculiar mountainous terrain. Weather conditions are perfect with an average annual temperature of 20 degrees and allow various sport activities throughout the year. It’s a paradise with modern infrastructure that attracts many tourists all year round, due to their vast sandy beaches, reefs, capes and wonderful bays.
The largest of the Canary Islands, Tenerife, is a real paradise for tourists with a range of activities and entertainment. The island is characterized by wonderful climate, mountainous terrain, fertile valleys, beautiful coast with sandy beaches and a number of tourist areas.

Gran Canaria is an island of varied landscape with lush forest, mountain massive, desert land, wide sandy beaches and the capital of highly original and individual architecture showing influences of all the continents.

Fuerteventura is the closest Canary Island to the African coast, famous for its enormous sand dunes and long sandy beaches. It is the oldest of the Canary Islands with many attractions, also popular among surfers ad divers.

Lanzarote is an island of distinguishes volcanic landscape mostly covered with ashes and lava. Mild dry climate and temperatures ranging from 21 to 29 degrees make it a perfect year-round destination.

La Palma is an island of extraordinary natural beauty with sunny climate and year-round moderate temperatures. The island’s northern part is dominated by the world’s largest erosion crater.

Gomera, an impressive island with many preserved antique traditions and customs, attracts tourist to the beautiful environment full of natural elements.

Hierro, the smallest and the youngest of the Canary Islands provides a relaxed vacation in natural and unspoiled environment of steep rocky coast and beautiful woods.
These are the islands of contrasting landscape and breathtaking scenery, a perfect getaway for all.
