Spanish coasts
Costa de la Luz
- it is the western part of Andalusia, the largest of 19 autonomous regions which comprises eight provinces; Huelva and Cadiz being two major coastal provinces in this area. The coast stretches from Ayamonte to Tarifa, with beaches of fine golden sand lined with pine forests, tourist resorts such as Matalascañas, Isla Cristina, la Antilla, El Rompido, etc. Tourists are attracted by its mild climate, wonderful scenery, charm, monuments and intense marine activities. Its name derives from the bright light which emphasizes the neat streets, golden sand dunes and reflection of the sea.
Costa del Sol - stretches to 300 km corresponding to the province of Malaga, extending without any established limits into provinces of Granada and Cadiz. The coast abounds in large beaches, coves and fishing grounds, as well as in various tourist resorts such as Benalmadena, Marbella, Estepona, Fuengirola, etc. It combines the appeals of the Mediterranean landscape and culture. Many tourist attractions have been built in the area; entertainment centers, marinas, night clubs, residential areas etc. One can enjoy the summer beach holidays, various water sport activities, sailing, attend cultural events and celebrations and many other tourist attractions.
Costa de Almeria - the coast stretches in the southeast of the peninsula with long beaches, small coves and high mountains. One can enjoy modern tourist resorts here, or find some attractive natural areas. The most popular tourist resorts are: Roquetas de Mar, San José, Mojacar, etc. The temperature is mild throughout the year due to warm and dry Mediterranean climate. Its marvelous landscape and interesting geographical position has attracted tourists from all over the world for years. Not only, various celebrations and fiestas are performed in this area.
Costa Calida - this is an interesting area with the mountain landscape that extends to the sea edge. The coast stretches from the beach of Carolina in Aguilas to the beach at El Mojon, and it offers a range of activities for visitors. Various facilities can be found in tourist resorts such as Mazarron, Aguilas, El Mojon, Cartagena, etc. The area comprises the Mar Menor as well, a vast salt-water lagoon.
Costa Blanca - the coastline corresponds to the province of Alicante, with popular tourist resorts; Denia, Javea, Torrevieja, Benidorm, Elche, etc. It's an example of the Mediterranean landscape with unique vegetation of vineyards, orchards and palm trees. The northern mountainous part forms the cliffs along the coast, while the southern part may be described as a vast plain of sand with palm trees. The area offers the most distinctive attractions, including the entertainment park south of Benidorm. The temperature is generally mild, though it is variable.
Costa del Azahar - the coastline offers much more than the simple tourist attractions. It is the most northern coast in the region of Valencia. Its name means the orange-blossom coast. Due to its geographical position, the inland area is mostly mountainous, wild in the inland, while the coastline forms the green carpet of orange orchards. This area is rich in history and monuments of extremely interesting tourist resorts; Castellon, Benicassim, Oropesa del Mar, Peniscola, etc.
Costa Dorada - it is the area in the southern part of Catalonia. Seaside villages give evidence to a long fishing tradition in this area. Stretches of beaches are washed by clear shallow waters and filled with golden sand dunes, due to the intensity of the sun’s rays. One can enjoy numerous picturesque places and their beautiful scenery, such as Salou, Tarragona, Cambrils, Barcelona, etc. The coast is an excellent holiday resort for families and for all those seeking for quietness.
Costa Brava - stretches from Blanes in the south to Portbou in the north. It is the coastal region of the northeastern Catalonia. The area has an extremely attractive environment. There is a great contrast of the steep cliffs and lush vegetation that are set against limpid, green and blue sea. A good summer climate and splendid beaches combined with great number of hotels have put some places among the most popular holiday resorts; Tossa de Mar, Lloret de Mar, L’Estartit, etc.
